What usually goes wrong
- The file opens as one giant column (delimiter mismatch: semicolon file read as comma).
- The import fails with "wrong number of fields" (ragged rows, shifted columns, stray quotes).
- Dates mix formats in one column, so the destination rejects or silently reorders them.
- Duplicate rows and empty lines inflate counts after a re-run export.
- Hidden whitespace breaks lookups, joins and contact matching.
- Broken characters (
Müller) from an encoding mismatch, or a first column literally namedidbecause of a BOM.
